Pillars of Change is a new multipart No.9 Public Art initiative encouraging action on pressing social and environmental issues.

This project raises awareness and amplifies the work of both prominent and emerging BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ identifying artists, collaborators, partners, and the public. It is a platform to foster community participation responsive to the evolving conditions that accompany COVID-19.

Looking for creative inspiration during the lockdown? This project is open to all ages and abilities – adults and children alike. Check out the Pillars of Change site for the latest artist latest artist editions, or download free at-home art making materials. Share your creations for the chance to see it displayed in large-scale formats such as digital billboards in prominent outdoor Toronto locations.

Pillars of Change supports all three pillars outlined in Toronto’s Public Art Strategy (2020/2030) – Creativity, Community, and Everywhere – and is presented in partnership with the City of Toronto as a signature ArtworxTO project. It is rooted in No.9’s Pillars of Sustainability, nine essential components for cultivating healthy communities: Green Building Design, Alternative Energy, Water Management, Waste Management, Food Security, Open Green Space, Transportation, Public Art & Design, Civic Engagement & Leadership.
