CLOUD 9’s EVOLUTION: DIFFERENT FORMATIONS
A cloud doesn't hold its shape.
It forms, it moves, it joins with others, it breaks apart.
It's never the same twice,
and it doesn't need to be.
Neither does Cloud 9.
Four years in, we still don't have a fixed shape. And we've stopped trying to find one.
That doesn’t mean the experience is devoid of intention, as Cloud 9’s is to be designed for full presence. A shared dance floor at sunset. A morning sauna with strangers who become friends. A moment of gratitude for what nature provides us with.
It means that going into year four, we're still building. Still asking what this space wants to become. Still inviting artists, makers, and thinkers into a continuous dialogue with the land.
To everyone who has been part of this experience before — thank you. To those finding it for the first time: we are excited for you to be a part of this next formation.

The idea for Cloud 9 was started by four friends around a campfire at No.9 Gardens—Canada’s First Sustainability Centre located in the Rideau Lakes. As members of the younger generation, we recognized the need for a new narrative around sustainability—one that motivates us by fostering creativity and connection, and inspiring meaningful and lasting change. Cloud 9 is supported by its parent environmental and arts charity No.9, and extends their mission by offering a vibrant social network for young people seeking knowledge, support, and community in the face of the climate crisis.
Believing in the power of the arts to build community, we launched Cloud 9’s first electronic music and eco-art festival in 2022. By 2023, we grew our team to 21 individuals/creatives under the ages of 26. These experiences—blending electronic music, wellness offerings, sustainability workshops, and immersive art—have transformed Cloud 9 into both a cultural initiative and a collaborative support system, empowering young people to connect, create, cultivate eco-hope, and take inspired action toward building a more equitable and resilient future.
